About Meg Rudansky, Attorney at Law

Meg Rudansky is a lawyer who practices in the areas of elder law, long-term care planning, trusts and estates, gift and estate tax planning, estate and trust administration and real estate.

Meg provides a personal approach to her planning and counseling, taking the time to get to know her clients and to educate them regarding significant objectives that can be achieved through proper planning. Client education is a priority for Meg, who takes pride in being able to explain difficult concepts in easy-to-understand terms, in order to empower the client to be a co-decision maker in the planning process. She is motivated to ensure that her clients’ accumulated wealth is distributed to their valued beneficiaries with the least erosion from long-term care expenses, estate taxes, creditor claims and court costs.

Meg graduated magna cum laude from Hunter College, City University of New York in 1981 and from Brooklyn Law School in 1984. She was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in early 1985, opened her own firm in Sag Harbor, New York and has been in private practice ever since.

Meg has been a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association (Elder Law Committee) since 1988. She is also a member of Elder Counsel, a national organization of elder law attorneys, Wealth Counsel, a national organization of estate planning attorneys, NAELA (National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys), NY NAELA and the New York State Bar Association.

Meg serves and has served on numerous Non-Profit Boards of Directors  and regularly contributes legal services to assist local charitable organizations. Meg is an accredited attorney with the Veterans Administration and is privileged to be able to assist Veterans access their well-earned Veterans Benefits.

Meg is the author of a local resource guide entitled, “Life-Care Planning for the Elderly and those with Long-Term Illness,” a booklet dedicated to providing important legal and practical information to those with long-term illness and their caregivers. This booklet also provides an extensive listing of available community resources that can assist families with long-term health problems to build an appropriate support system.

Meg feels a keen sense of responsibility toward her clients and attends numerous continuing legal educational events throughout the year to ensure that her clients’ interests are protected.


Meg Rudansky, Attorney at Law, assists clients with Estate Planning, Elder Law and Probate in Sag Harbor, Southampton (sometimes misspelled as “South Hampton”), East Hampton, Bridgehampton, Water Mill, Wainscott, Montauk, Amagansett, Hampton Bays, Riverhead, Suffolk County and eastern Long Island, New York.
